A wide variety of animals are considered “scary”. In this coffee chat, hosted by Sharon Spencer (Jacksonville Zoo & Botanical Gardens) and Lindsey Olimpio (Endangered Wolf Center), we discuss what makes an animal “scary”, the importance of language in shifting attitudes around “scary” animals, and how peoples’ feelings impact their ability to build empathy for these animals.
