Learning Group: A Focus on Empathy Framing

October 2026

ACE for Wildlife® Network

Oakland Zoo

Utah's Hogle Zoo

This learning group shares the unique ways people in our Network apply the practice of framing to their work. Chris Schmitz (Utah’s Hogle Zoo) will discuss how empathetic framing shows up in their Wild Utah exhibit, Helena Echenique (Conservation Society of California Oakland Zoo) will discuss how they reformatted and reframed animal ambassador programming to more effectively highlight animal agency, and Brian Priesman (Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium) will discuss the importance of age-appropriate language.
