Learning Group Series: Supporting Neurodiversity in Zoos & Aquariums

These learning groups discuss neurodiversity in zoos & aquariums. In the first recording, brought to you by the ACE for Wildlife Network DEAI Committee, Zoos and Aquariums for a Neurodiverse Ecosystem (ZANE) Executive Director Grayson Ponti will provide an introduction to neurodiversity and how it shows up in zoos and aquariums. He will also delve into how neurodiversity affirming practice is part of the ACE for Wildlife Network’s goal of driving empathy for wildlife and fostering compassion for all living things.

The second recording shares examples from Network Members that showcase how their organizations go about meeting the diverse needs of their staff and make spaces more welcoming and accessible for everyone. Lake Superior Zoo will share how their MoZAIC’s training has influenced their workspace features and set ups and Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens will speak to the creation of their inclusive community working space.
